Athiya Shetty made her debut in Nikkhil Advani's Hero, alongside Sooraj Pancholi. Then she worked in Anees Bazmee's Mubarakan, with Arjun Kapoor and Ileana D'cruz. After the release of Mubarakan, the actor went missing from the silver screen for a while. Now, she will be soon be seen in Mootichoor Chacknachoor with Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Directed by Debamitra Biswal, the film is a romantic comedy about a small town couple. However, it seems like Athiya almost turned down the opportunity to work with Nawazuddin. Yes, you read that right!
During a chat with Filmfare, Athiya revealed that she was so nervous about working with Nawaz that she initially said no to the project. The actress said, “Nawaz is such an incredible actor. Thanks I got a chance to work with him. I think I have evolved so much because with him I learnt less is more. You don’t have to be exaggerate in your performance to perform comedy. You just have to be true to your character and with yourself. I was really very nervous working with Nawaz. I said no twice because I was so nervous to be opposite with him and I honestly didn’t know how I would be. But once I came on board, I felt so comfortable.”
But, it looks like Athiya is extremely with her decision and is looking forward for the film’s release. Talking about her role in the film, she said, “It’s a very honest simple story of two people and their families. The story is intriguing, and for me, it’s a refreshing change to be playing a small-town girl. I have never done this before, so for me, as an actor, it was a challenging part.”
Motichoor Chaknachoor is slated to release on 15th November.
