- OnePlus users are likely to use their phones longer than usual.
- OnePlus supports its phones for a period of up to three years.
- The OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T recently got the latest Android security patch.
There's no doubt that OnePlus makes some of the best smartphones in the market. Especially when you consider this year's OnePlus 7 series phones, it is evident that the company doesn't compromise with the essentials smartphone elements. OnePlus has been doing this for many years now and hence, the brand has built up loyal users who stick to its phones every year when the company launches its flagship phones. And it seems that those who use OnePlus phones want to keep using their phone for longer than they will use other premium phones.
In recent research by Counterpoint, it has been stated that OnePlus users are using their smartphones longer than users of premium smartphones from other brands. "About four out of every 10 users of OnePlus plan to buy a new smartphone in the next year," says Pavel Naiya, Senior Analyst at Counterpoint Research. This means that OnePlus smartphone buyers are using their phones longer than the usual trend in the premium smartphone segment.
On the contrary, it is said that those consumers who use smartphones from Samsung are likely to change within 6 months. This is much less than what OnePlus users are doing. It is to be noted that Samsung has been in the smartphone business longer than OnePlus and the company recently enrolled itself into an elite group of smartphone manufacturers to go commercial with a folding smartphone. Also at the same time, Samsung's conventional premium phones offer the most exclusive specifications that rival OnePlus may not offer.
While OnePlus doesn't do gimmicks with its phones, it focuses on the overall smartphone experience. OnePlus' motto in recent times has been Fast and Smooth, which pertains to a speedy user experience without lags and stutters Android is usually known for. We reviewed the OnePlus 7 Pro a few months ago and while it didn't have the bells and whistles as its rivals, it nailed the overall user experience.
Moreover, OnePlus stays true to its promise of regular maintenance updates. The OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T from 2016 are still getting security updates - something that other brands usually don't do. OnePlus is also among the first few manufacturers to roll out the latest Android versions every year. And while delivering the latest features, it ensures that the phones remain fast and lag-free over the course of years. With a serious commitment to systematic support for a longer period of time, OnePlus keeps its customers happy and this is a major reason to draw more people to the brand and stick to their phones for longer periods than they would usually be.
